Actor Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door) has been charged with felony assault for allegedly attacking a Hollywood executive at the Sundance Film Festival. A spokesperson for Hirsch says, “Emile consumed an enormous amount of alcohol on the evening in question and he has no memory of what happened.” If found guilty of third degree felony aggravated assault, Hirsch could face up to five years in prison. He is due in court March 16. Hirsch has checked himself into an alcohol rehabilitation facility.
The 31-year-old woman Hirsch allegedly put in a chokehold at a nightclub in Utah is Daniele “Dani” Bernfeld, vice president of digital entertainment and Insurge Pictures at Paramount. The Vassar graduate (class of 2005) just made The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the industry’s top execs, 35 and under. When asked what she’s learned in the industry, Bernfeld said: “Assumption is the mother of all f@*kups.”
