Mark Castellano lived with his girlfriend Michelle Warner and their child in Houston, Texas. Days before confessing to murdering Michelle and burying her body in an oil field, Castellano told police and Dr. Phil, during a taped interview for the national TV show, that he was desperate to find Warner. Castellano said she walked out of their home after a fight and never came back. Warner had a previous conviction for drug use. Castellano said she had abandoned her family.
But just two days after his Dr. Phil appearance, Castellano confessed to Warner’s murder. He said he did it in self-defense; he said she took a swing at him and he choked her and then they fell while he had his hands around her neck. In June 2014, Castellano was sentenced to 27 years in prison for the death of Warner. 48 Hours is airing a special on Castellano and Warner on February 7, 10pm on CBS.
