Actor Gary Sinise (CSI:NY, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13) was scheduled to speak at the Legatus 2015 Annual Summit in Florida this weekend. He pulled out after discovering the group’s “anti-gay” attitudes. The Catholic organization’s website refers to homosexuality as “SSA” or “Same-sex attraction disorder.” They urge “sufferers” to seek a cure.
Sinise said, “When I accepted the invitation to speak at the Legatus conference on Veterans issues and share my story, I was unaware of the controversy surrounding some of the participants, and their views on personal matters.” The other celebrity headliner at the summit was religious conservative Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who might run for president. Jindal recently confirmed that he would “support an amendment to the Constitution that would enable state legislatures to outlaw same-sex marriage if the U.S. Supreme Court were to overturn various state bans.”
