Due to the success of Gone Girl, film director David Fincher, novelist/screenwriter Gillian Flynn and actor Ben Affleck are collaborating again. They will remake the Alfred Hitchcock classic 1951 film Strangers On a Train, which was based on Patricia Highsmith’s psychological thriller novel of the same title. Detective novelist Raymond Chandler wrote the screenplay. Actor Farley Granger played Guy Haines, the amateur tennis player who wants a divorce from his wife Miriam (Laura Elliott) so he can marry the daughter of a senator Anne Morton (Ruth Roman). On a train Haines meets a stranger, Bruno (Robert Walker), who turns a suggestion offered in jest into murder.
According to Deadline, all of the action will take place on a plane rather than a train. To help modernized the film, the title will be changed to Strangers On a Plane. Not to be confused with Snakes on a Plane.
