Finding Vivian Maier is a documentary about the life of a professional nanny, Vivian Maier. In her spare time she was a prolific street photographer. More than 100,000 of her black-and-white negatives and 7,000 rolls of undeveloped color film and 8mm and 16mm movies taken in New York and Chicago were discovered by filmmaker John Maloof at an auction house across the street from his home. He bought the mysterious box of negatives for $380. Her discovered collection of street photography has rocked the art world.
Showtime is airing the documentary Finding Vivian Maier on Thursday, January 8 at 8pm. It’s an examination of her very private life. Her former employers and the children she watched are interviewed and all are surprised to learn of her private passion.
