I thought I didn’t have any more vagina stories to write this week. I was wrong. The latest beauty craze to take the UK by storm is the vagina facial. Uproxx reports that beauticians are promising to give women ‘the vagina of a 25-year-old’ with a treatment that combines steam, coconut oil, egg whites and vitamins. The treatment is being pioneered by dating guru and “vagacial pioneer” Lisa Palmer. “We tend to forget our nether regions, thinking a Brazilian wax is enough,” she said. “But when I was dating my first younger man I looked downstairs to realize it was a bit wrinkly and dry compared to when I was younger.”
Palmer demonstrated the treatment on Abigail, a 74-year-old woman on ITV’s This Morning, but not before pointing out that the term “vagina facial” is a bit of a misnomer, as the treatment is really only for “the bits on show.” In any event, ladies who have “a shambolic downstairs” can perk themselves up. Colin Webster of the British Association of Beauty Therapists and Cosmetologists says the trend for vagina steaming doesn’t surprise him. “It’s not really all that surprising, though it may seem strange at first; we have already seen grooming extend ‘down south’ over the last couple of decades, with the Hollywood wax now completely normal and vajazzle kits available in everyday high street shops.” But does it work? Well, all the ladies on This Morning said they felt nice afterwards. Abigail said she would reserve judgement “until the next time I dance the horizontal tango.”
