In an 8-minute video that’s powerful, deeply sad, and a tremendous example of courage, 21-year-old Yeonmi Park tells the brutal story of her life before she escaped from North Korea. “North Koreans are being terrorized today,” she says. Yeonmi Park’s visible youth is betrayed by a trembling voice shaken by all she’s seen. “When I was growing up in North Korea, I never saw anything about love stories, no books, no songs, no movies about love stories,” she says. It was all propaganda about the Kim dictators.
For most of her life, Yeonmi Park believed “the dictator could read my mind.” She spoke at the One Young World Summit 2014 in Dublin.
