Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect in the April 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, has been living in “nearly total isolation” at Fort Devens medical prison outside of Boston. According to Yahoo! News, he is scheduled to appear in a federal courtroom on Thursday, December 18. It’s a status hearing in his case – it will be the first time the now 21-year-old has been seen in public since July 2013.
Prosecutors with the U.S. attorney’s office who are handling the Tsarnaev case say the December 18 hearing is “his last opportunity to state whether he has any problems with his case or attorneys before the trial formally begins.” Tsarnaev’s trial is set to begin January 5, 2015.
