Patti Smith has been invited by Pope Francis to perform at this year’s Vatican Christmas Concert in Rome, on December 13 at the Auditorium Conciliazione. Some Christian groups are upset calling the decision “blasphemous.” Smith famously sang the song Gloria in 1975 with the line “Jesus died for somebody’s sings, but not mine.”
The Pope and Punk have met before – at St. Peter’s Square last April. They shook hands. The concert will also feature a performance from “singing non” Sister Christina Scussia, winner of Italy’s version of The Voice.
