The award-winning TV drama Homeland returns to Showtime this Sunday, October 5 at 9pm ET for a two-hour premiere. In the fourth season, CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) leaves her newborn daughter with her sister in the States and dives back into work in Kabul, Afghanistan. There will be less focus on Carrie’s bipolar condition (although she’s still medicated) and more on her day-to-day work including giving the go-ahead for drone strikes. “She’s running into work, and she’s kicking ass,” said actress Claire Danes.
Actor Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi, Million Dollar Arm) will play a big role in Season 4 of Homeland. His character, Aayan Ibrahim, is a Pakistani med student who survives one of Carrie’s air strikes and captures video footage just moments before the drone hits the ground. When he posts the video on YouTube, Carrie’s life is turned upside as does his. Aayan becomes an instant public figure — “the stand-in for all innocent victims of all American drone attacks.”
