Jodi Arias was convicted in the 2008 murder of her former lover Travis Alexander. The 34-year-old waitress/photographer was convicted of first-degree murder in May 2013. She now faces a penalty retrial which will begin this week. The jury will decide if she receives a death sentence or life in prison.
During her murder trial, salacious details of her sex life with Alexander were revealed. The retrial has been delayed due to possible evidence in the case including letters Arias claims Alexander wrote to her, “apologizing for an alleged incident in which she said she caught him masturbating while looking at pictures of young boys.” Prosecutor Juan Martinez said the letters were phony.
