Camren Bicondova, the actress playing Selina Kyle (Catwoman as a young pickpocket) on Fox’s new TV series, Gotham, is just 15 years old. Camren plays Selina with aplomb. The pilot episode opened with Selina witnessing the grisly murders of Bruce Wayne’s parents. In episode 2, right before being sent to juvenile detention for petty theft, she convinces a cop to call detective Jim Gordon, because she has something important to tell him. In episode 3 (to air Monday, October 6), Selina walks Gordon through the crime scene. Is she telling him everything? And if she is, will he believe her? It’s the beginning of a beautifully complicated relationship.
Viewers wouldn’t know it from watching Gotham but Camren has more experience as a dancer than an actress. (Though it must be perfect training for a character as agile as a cat.) Before the landing the role of Selina Kyle, Camren danced in the desert with R&B singer Ciara for her music video Got Me Good. The video, directed by Joseph Kahn, premiered on the Sony JumboTron in New York City’s Times Square in 2012. Camren was then 13.
