While promoting his latest film, Jason Reitman’s Men, Women & Children, 20-year-old Ansel Elgort spoke about his recent rush of fame. One smitten Buzzfeed reporter set the scene of the interview: “Stretched out on a Toronto hotel sofa with his head resting on a pillow and his long legs perched in gold-flecked Louis Vuitton high-tops on the coffee table in front of him,” Elgort revealed that he really didn’t become famous until The Fault in Our Stars. The actor said that before that film, his life was very normal. Even though before The Fault he had roles in Carrie and Divergent, the latter grossing $150 million. After The Fault in Our Stars which “made, like, $300 million worldwide, more than Divergent” every young person in the world knew who Elgort was, even in Paris.
Elgort has a habit of starting sentences with “As someone who’s an influencer…” 2 million people follow him on Twitter and 3.7 million on Instagram. Elgort also deejays under the name DJ Ansolo, and says some people still haven’t made the connection yet, that’s he’s the same guy in the movies. Men, Women & Children, also starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Garner, is out in theaters now.
