For a man whose name every basketball fan knows, it’s odd that Jeremy Lin has rarely been a starter. Until his outlandish breakout run in New York a few seasons back–when he launched the unforgettable Linsanity–Lin has mostly come off the bench. That is, when he could get off the bench. His stay in Houston didn’t produce the results either the Rockets or Lin were hoping for, and Lin never found a comfortable spot as a starter despite the big contract and high expectations.
Now the California native is a Laker–and it appears the Lakers are all in on Lin. Even though two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash is still with the team and is apparently healthy, reports say Jeremy Lin will start at point guard for the 2014-15 Lakers. Or at least that’s the early guess from NBA.com Lakers reporter Mike Trudell. His “(slightly) educated” guess posits Lin at point guard with backcourt mate Kobe Bryant at shooting guard. (One thing for sure is that Kobe will put the “shooting” in “shooting guard.”) A one-two rotation at point of a healthy Nash with Lin has fans in the Lakers Nation pretty excited about the new season, especially if recent acquisition Carlos Boozer can grab some boards.
