A filmmaker known for mystery and dark humor, David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart) accepted the ice bucket challenge from actress Laura Dern (Wild at Heart) and Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive). Lynch took one bucket for each star (for Dern’s bucket, two shots of espresso were added) while playing the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on a trumpet.
At the end of the video, Lynch, a strong advocate for the consciousness-based educational program, Transcendental Meditation, challenges Russian president Vladimir Putin. It would have been perfect if late night talk host Seth Meyers and big man Vin Diesel hadn’t already done so. The old David Lynch, when he was really cutting edge, would have challenged Stalin.
