Heartthrob Zac Efron (“Neighbors”) is the first celebrity to appear on the new NBC series “Running Wild With Bear Gylls.” Grylls is a British adventurer who travels around the world to push celebrities out of their comfort zones, literally. Together they skydive, repel down cliffs, face down torrential weather.
Efron’s come a long way since playing Troy Bolton on Disney’s High School Musical. He’s made lots of films and money, he hosted Saturday Night Live, and was on People’s 2011 Most Beautiful list. And he’s only 26 years old. The pressure got to be too much. In 2013, he sought treatment for alcoholism and substance abuse. He’s been sober for a year. A trek through the Appalachian Mountains should be a snap.
