It’s not surprising to see a pocket-size booklet containing the complete text of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence on the Best Sellers List at the US Government Bookstore. Nor is it surprising to see the annual Federal Benefits for Veterans, Dependents & Survivors on the list ($5 each, shouldn’t it be free?). Another popular item is Civics Flash Cards for the Naturalization Test ($15). Did you know the US Department of Homeland Security gives each of the 100 civics questions and answers on the naturalization test in 4.25 x 7 flash cards?
A pleasant surprise on the list is the children’s book Why Would Anyone Want to Cut a Tree Down? It was written by USDA Forest Service educator Roberta Burzynski and illustrated by her colleague Juliette Watts.
