The made-for-TV disaster movie Sharknado caused a giant spontaneous wave of absurd glee to blow through Twitter last summer. The millions of viewers who tuned into the Syfy channel for Sharknado had never seen anything like it. Now there’s the sequel–the perfectly named Sharknado 2: The Second One–which inspired the iOS video game Sharknado: The Video Game. The original movie saw a hurricane of ferocious sharks hit Los Angeles and flood the city–and added the brilliantly awful acting of Ian Ziering (90210) and Tara Reid (American Pie). Sharknado 2: The Second One is set in New York City, slated to air in late July.
Players of the soon-to-be-released video game–developed by Other Ocean and Majesco Entertainment–control the main character Fin as he fights Sharknadoes tearing through Manhattan. There will be tons of sharks, swords and chainsaws because when those winds are filled with dangerous sharks, a chainsaw is just what you want. The game hopes to surprise with its playability the way Sharknado did with its watchability. If all goes well people will be crushing sharks like it’s a Candy Crush.
