Today the Indy 500 launches Memorial Day weekend, and with the holiday comes the tradition of barbeques. It shouldn’t surprise the millions of Americans who will watch the race to see the Prilosec OTC logo all over the oval. Prilosec OTC, which treats frequent heartburn, is sponsoring driver Graham Rahal and launching a series of “Zero* Burn Barbeque Events” at Indy. FOX Sports, the TV network broadcasting the race, hopes the 68 million Americans who experience heartburn two or more days a week will tune in. (Among them were executives at last year’s Indy 500 broadcast partner, ABC-TV, which reported terrible ratings.)
Prilosec OTC spokesperson Larry the Cable Guy is expected to make a pit stop at the speedway where he’ll encourage race car fans to enter the “You Can’t Beat Zero* Sweepstakes.” Winner gets a Monster Utility Vehicle and a trip for two to a stock car race of their choice, courtesy of Prilosec.
