Ali Spagnola looks like your average adorable American cheerleader. She’s always in sneakers and spandex, baring her toned midriff and bright white smile. While studying art and music at tops-in-the-field Carnegie Mellon, Spagnola created a drinking game to accompany 60 one-minute songs that she wrote. Players are encouraged to take a shot of beer every time a new song comes on. After much encouragement from her fellow co-eds, Spagnola took her “Power Hour Drinking Game” show on the road. Part stand up, part music concert, part sorority house girl gone bad, the Power Hour concert draws in big crowds in college towns across the country.
Although Spagnola has credits like the theme song for the Huffington Post’s Weird News section (they commissioned it!), she’s had to fight for her right to party. After three smile-swiping years in court, she finally won a lawsuit against a man who claimed to own the Power Hour trademark. (She was forced to take down all her YouTube videos and even the album on Amazon during the litigation.) But now she’s back online, as feisty and peppy as ever on her Freedom Victory Tour. And you can drink to that.
