Dawn Garcia is the person you want to be next to at the party. She writes about food and wine, travel and leisure, and she’s not afraid to play show and tell or truth or dare. A celebrity in L.A., Dawn has a number of platforms including her own magazine ATOD: A Taste of Dawn and her own radio show called, you got it, A Taste of Dawn. (If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.) Every Tuesday and Thursday (Noon-1pm) she interviews writers, musicians, chefs, photographers, and graphic designers like Charles E. White III, who is the subject of the current film “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” (starring Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. Roman Coppola directed).
Who would be her ideal guest on the show? We’re betting on Roman’s dad, Francis Ford Coppola. Years ago, as a movie makeup artist, she met the Godfather of California culture on set. Since then, she’s been inspired to write. In fact, she was chosen by Coppola’s literary publication Zoetrope to join a workshop in Belize and was mentored by Amy Bloom, Adrienne Brodeur and Sarah Powell. She hasn’t been the same since. Check her out, you might not be either.
