Jeanine Pepler promotes Manhattan’s sexy literati. Her #1 client is “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell–right now she’s bringing attention to the book-turned-TV series “The Carrie Diaries” on The CW. (Carrie Bradshaw–sans cosmos–is a teenager in 1980s New York.) Pepler could well be one of the fictional Carrie’s famously single, kid-allergic, wine-loving friends. Pepler did come close once to marrying her own Mr. Big – “Bright Lights, Big City” author Jay McInerney – but she broke it off. McInerney moved on and married publishing heiress Anne Randolph Hearst, but Pepler still represents him and his latest writing endeavors, including his vinous essays for the Wall Street Journal. Carrie on.
Pepler, Jeanine
Pepler was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, earned her Masters in English Literature from Georgetown, and paid her dues at a number of New York City agencies including First Look Artists (representing Julie Taymor, Julian Schnabel) before launching her own company AKA PR. In true socialite fashion, she likes to boast about her lapdog – a French bulldog named Violet.
