Mark Schlereth is announcing games in the booth with Dick Stockton for Fox Sports during the 2017 NFL season. The 12-year NFL veteran, who jumped to Fox from ESPN, pairs with one of the most venerable voices in all of sports broadcasting in Stockton, who will turn 75 during the 2017 NFL season. Adding spark — and a touch of movie star glamour — to the Schlereth-Stockton team from the sidelines is the excellent Shannon Spake.
[In CARS 3, Shannon Spake is Shannon Spokes]
Spake has long been a presence on the college football sidelines, but it’s NASCAR where she’s had the biggest impact. Look, not every kid can boast that their mom has been featured in Cars 3, the latest in the hugely successful Pixar movie series. (Spake voiced the character Shannon Spokes.) Spake, a self-described Howard Stern “superfan”, likes to “hit ’em with the hein” which is what NFL viewers can expect when Schlereth-Stockton turn it over to the sidelines. A native of South Florida, Spake has a longtime loyalty to the Miami Dolphins, which she will professionally ignore when called upon to do their games. Her favorite Dolphins player of all time is retired Pro-Bowler Zack Thomas, which proves that Spake is the kind of fan and reporter who likes middle linebackers better than quarterbacks. Maybe it’s the roaring engines of NASCAR in her blood that gives her that outlook; Spake is a co-host FS1’s NASCAR Race Hub.
