Season 11 of America’s Got Talent has featured what seems to be an inordinate amount of young talent. Three of the 10 finalistsare 14-year-old contortionist Sofie Dossi, 14-year-old opera singer Laura Bretan, and 12-year-old singer/songwriter Grace VanderWaal. All three young women garnered the Golden Buzzer (Sofie from guest judge Reba McEntire; Laura from Mel B; and Grace from Howie Mandel). It’s a young stage and audience so the choice of musical guest, Stevie Nicks, on the season finale is a bit of a surprise.
Stevie Nicks, 68, became famous as the lead singer of the band Fleetwood Mac, which she joined in 1975. (Rumors was their best-selling album, the fifth-highest selling studio album of all time.) Nicks launched her solo career with the 1981 album Bella Donna which went quadruple-platinum. Nicks has dealt with a lot of personal ups and downs but she made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac. They were inducted in 1998 – years before Sofie, Laura, and Grace were born. The winner of America’s Got Talent Season 11 will be announced on Wednesday, September 14 at 8pm on NBC.
