The TV movie Blue-Eyed Butcher is based on a true crime story. Susan Wright was a young wife and mother of two who was accused of luring her husband of six years Jeff Wright (portrayed by Justin Bruening) into their bed, tying him up and stabbing him 193 times with two different knives. She then buried him in their backyard in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. The 26-year-old Susan confessed and claimed self-defense. She said her husband had been physically and mentally abusive for years and that she had to protect her family. Susan Wright was given a 25-year sentence for first-degree murder which in 2010 was cut to 20 years in prison.
[People magazine correspondent Eric Francis wrote the book A Wife’s Revenge about Susan Wright]
