Former Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro charged real estate heir Robert Durst for the alleged murder of his first wife Kathleen “Kathie” McCormack Durst. Kathie disappeared in New York in 1982. Seventeen years after her disappearance, the case was reopened — in 1999. One month after the investigation was made public, Durst’s friend Susan Berman (who corroborated Durst’s alibi) was found dead in her home. “I knew, I knew, I knew,” says Pirro, “that Robert Durst killed her.”

Pirro, who is now host of Justice with Judge Jeanine on Fox News, wrote about her role in the Durst case in the book, He Killed Them All: Robert Durst and My Quest for Justice. Prior to its release, Pirro fired the co-writer of the book, Lisa DePaulo. The journalist was living in the guest wing of Pirro’s Rye, New York home while working on the project. Pirro says DePaulo abused her home privileges by “chain-smoking cigarettes in my home, drinking excessively and refusing to clean up after herself and her dog.” DePaulo sued Pirro in October 2015, and says Pirro “exaggerates her role in the Durst case for the book.” Pirro will be interviewed on 48 Hours on January 30, 10pm on CBS.
