U.S. Congressman Dan Goldman (D-NY) took sharp issue with his congressional colleague Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) after Donalds sought to portray the Biden administration as failing to adequately support Ukraine and prevent the Russian invasion.
Goldman expressed his astonishment that the Florida Congressman would try to pin the Russian aggression in Ukraine on a failure by the Biden administration, especially after “Trump withheld all of the military and security assistance Congress appropriated to Ukraine” back in 2019, emboldening Russia.
Goldman rejects Donalds’s assertion that “President Biden did nothing to deter Russia from invading Ukraine” during a six-month build-up of Russian troops on Ukraine’s border.
“On the contrary,” Goldman says, “Joe Biden, as President, did share intelligence to rally our European allies to support Ukraine in a meaningful way that actually offset the need for us to provide as much financial assistance.”

Goldman does say, however, that he is “glad to hear Mr. Donalds supports Ukraine in its war against Russia” and hopes he can “convince his colleagues not to strip all funding for Ukraine in the NDAA.”
Rep. Donalds, who switched from Democrat to Republican during the Barack Obama administration, is one of the foremost MAGA/Trump supporters in Congress. Donalds’s pinned tweet is his announcement endorsing Trump for President, which he made back in April.
Below is Donalds expressing his opinion about Donald Trump’s foreign policy prowess in comparison to that of Joe Biden. Donalds’s broad claim that “the country was a much safer place when [Trump] was President and so was the world” is an example of what Goldman objects to in the video above.
