North Carolina Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, the septuagenarian serving her 9th term in the House, slammed the Biden administration’s latest move to provide student debt forgiveness as taxpayer “abuse.”
Foxx, the Republican Chair of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, called the Biden move to forgive $39 billion in student loans through the Department of Education both “illegal” and “shameful.”
Today the Biden admin announced that it will provide billions in blanket loan "forgiveness" to over 800,000 borrowers. Once again, this admin is breaking the law to push forward its free college agenda.

The Biden administration, which cancelled the debt using what it characterized as a correction to a malfunctioning income-based debt repayment system, said it was “fixing past administrative failures.”
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said “we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve, just as we have done for public servants, students who were cheated by their colleges, and borrowers with permanent disabilities, including veterans.”
In a statement, Foxx excoriated the Biden relief for 800,000-plus borrowers, writing:
“The Biden administration’s blatantly political attempt to circumvent the Supreme Court is shameful. The Biden administration is trampling the rule of law, hurting borrowers, and abusing taxpayers to chase headlines.
“Biden’s student loan scam is far from over. From day one, this administration has encouraged borrowers not to repay their loans and has expected taxpayers to foot the bill. Today’s celebration of counting no payments as payments is just the latest example of the ongoing delusion at the White House.
“Taxpayers should be enraged but not surprised. Don’t forget, this is the same agency that was called out for using cost estimates that weren’t grounded in reality.
“This president is dead set on ruining our postsecondary education financing system for a few votes next November, taxpayers and the rule of law be damned.”
The Carolina Journal recently celebrated Foxx’s long service to North Carolina, mentioning her signature moments like getting a bill signed by George W. Bush and winning the endorsement of Donald Trump.
A statement she made for the piece explains how Foxx thinks and how she wins the conservative heart. “The [Biden] administration,” Foxx said, “is determined to get people hooked on taxpayer dollars coming from the federal government. Their arrogance is unbelievable.”
