Former President Donald Trump put out a social media post today excoriating Atlanta District Attorney, Fani Willis, and predicting that the D.A. “will be dropping all charges against me for lack of a case.”
Political commentator Ron Filipkowski, a lawyer and former federal prosecutor, asserted that Trump has likely been given information by his attorneys in the case. Willis had earlier signaled an “August timetable to bring charges,” according to reporting by the New York Times, resulting from an investigation into Trump’s alleged election interference in Georgia in 2020.
This makes me think that he, or his lawyers, were told something. Maybe not, but this seems rather random for him to make this prediction today. pic.twitter.com/VakCVDFnVD

Special Counsel Jack Smith is also investigating the Trump team’s action in Georgia around the election. It was recently announced that “Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who was asked by former President Donald Trump in January 2021 to ‘find’ 11,780 votes for him in the 2020 election, will be interviewed by investigators” from the Special Counsel’s office.
Trump has often sought to get out in front of news yet to be announced, attempting to control the narrative by announcing events first — whether the news portrays him negatively or positively. He previously posted on social media that he would be indicted well in advance of the indictments being announced.
