The Democratic National Convention in 2024 will return to Chicago, a city that has hosted more national political conventions than any other. Both Republicans and Democrats have chosen their candidates and celebrated their platforms in the Windy City.
Famous Democrat Hillary Clinton celebrated the future return of the Dems to Chicago by revisiting and sharing an iconic moment from a previous Chicago convention. In 1996 Democrats re-nominated Bill Clinton and the moment was marked by the biggest trend of the time: People — perhaps ill-suited for it — dancing to the ubiquitous earworm, The Macarena.
That’s right—we’re bringing back the Macarena. https://t.co/ncvYB23KDJ

Clinton is captured in the video “doing the Macarena” and in sharing it, the former First Lady, Secretary of State and Democratic Presidential Nominee relives good times in the Party’s history — Bill Clinton was reelected, of course, that year.
Hillary Clinton’s Twitter profile recognizes that she is, among other things, a “hair icon.” And the video shows one of the reasons why. It’s also notable for the lyrics, which have taken on a stinging poignancy for Hillary supporters — something they didn’t have in 1996.
The 2016 presidential election results that saw Clinton lose to Donald Trump turned one repeating Macarena line into a bitter lament, at least as it relates to Ms. Clinton and those who voted for her. “They all want me,” the song says, “they can’t have me.”
