Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock) stars in the new CBS legal dramedy So Help Me Todd. Pitch Perfect star Skylar Astin plays the protagonist, Todd, a “talented but directionless private investigator who begrudgingly agrees to work at his overbearing mother’s law firm.” Harden plays Todd’s mother, Margaret, a defense attorney.
As seen in the video above, Harden tells viewers — with aplomb! — to “put a finger down if you’re someone who has worked your way up from the bottom and now you’re a high powered lawyer on your way to a promotion. But then you make the mistake of hiring your son, a down-and-out detective to work for your firm and he threatens everything you’ve worked so hard for with his unconventional ways that you might lose your promotion. But you still work with him and believe in him because that’s what mothers do.”
Astin and Harden (a mother of three in real life) have a great chemistry on screen as seen above and below. When Harden shared the sneak peek video below, she wrote: “Don’t worry, no baby bunnies were thrown into a campfire.”
Harden is also promoting the movie Gigi & Nate and turning heads at press day. She wore a stunning white crepe knit dress by Scanlan Theodore (below). More than one fan replied: “So chic!”
So Help Me Todd airs Thursdays at 9 pm on CBS.
