On January 17, The New York Times reported that President Donald Trump is adding Kenneth W. Starr to his legal team. Starr will defend Trump at his impeachment trial which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 21.
Starr, of course, is the former independent counsel behind The Starr Report, which alleged that President Bill Clinton lied about his sexual activity with White House intern Monica Lewinsky during a sworn deposition, which in 1998 led to the country’s second-ever impeachment of a President.
When news of Ken Starr joining Trump’s legal team broke, Monica Lewinsky wrote on Twitter: “this is definitely an ‘are you fucking kidding me?’ kinda day.”
Two hours later, Hillary Clinton didn’t overtly address the Starr news. But the former First Lady and Secretary of State shared the trailer to the Hulu documentary, Hillary, and captioned it: “I’ve got the kind of life you can’t make up. See for yourself on @Hulu, March 6.”
