On the Season 6 premiere of Black Ink Crew Chicago, fans learn that former 9Mag manager Charmaine is now running her own tattoo shop, 2nd City Ink, and is pregnant! Charmaine and her fiance Nick Bey meet their mothers at a restaurant to break the exciting news.
The camera stays on Charmaine’s mom, Glenda Denise Leverette Walker, as she opens an envelope with a positive pregnancy test inside. Watching the scene is bittersweet as Charmaine’s mother has since passed away.
Black Ink Crew: Chicago cameras filmed the funeral. In the video below, standing outside of the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in New Orleans, Charmaine — who looked like an angel in a white one-shoulder dress — delivered a short eulogy standing by her father.
Together they released six white doves to symbolize Glenda’s six decades of life. Everyone who left a comment on Instagram agrees it is “heartbreaking” to watch.
Charmaine captioned the video: “What a wonderful day. It was hard and I don’t think it’s going to get easier but today was a beautiful experience and I’m happy that we gave my mom such a dope funeral. It had Glenda written all over it! I love you mom.”
