NBA star Draymond Green is the only one left on the island. That’s the way it must feel for the dynamic forward who has been an irreplaceable and irrepressible part of the Golden State Warriors recent dynasty.
But when Green looks around now, he must feel abandoned. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant, even Andrew Bogut — nobody’s there. And so Draymond and coach Steve Kerr are feeling what it’s like on the other side — and the grass is NOT greener.
The Warriors had to contend with the newly resurgent, LeBron James-led LA Lakers last night, and the Lakers didn’t even bother to suit up Anthony Davis. (He was, ahem, hurt.) They still got crushed 120-94. The Warriors as a team had just 33 rebounds (to the Lakers 51) and Green?
Well, he grabbed just a single board in 28 minutes of play. None of this is meant to indicate that Green has fallen off his form — only that NBA basketball is a team game, and what a difference losing two MVPs and a Splash brother makes. Better times ahead, surely, if Green can find a way to get there.
