The knock so far on 7’7″ NBA rookie and Celtics pick Tacko Fall is that he lacks the NBA-level mobility. But maybe that’s just because people can’t see what they don’t want to see. James Harden once explained he’s not really that fast, he just knows how to use the speed that he has. Might the same be said about Tacko Fall’s mobility? That he knows — and continues to learn — how to use what he has?
Check out the enormous Fall running the court to get back and execute a chase-down block against the Grizzlies in the NBA summer league. This is not the kind of block where the big man just eats up space in the lane and uses his length from a position of strength. No, this is the kind of block that’s most often performed by the most elite athletes on the court — people like LeBron James. (See James’s famous block below.)
NBA watchers are trying to figure out if Tacko Fall has a real future after his college career. If there isn’t a place in the NBA for a guy who can do this, that’d be pretty strange, right?
