Rwanda has seen more strife than almost anyplace on earth, but the gorillas there are doing better thanks to Ellen DeGeneres. NFL superstar quarterback Drew Brees and his gorgeous wife Brittany Brees recently visited The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, which was made possible after Ellen took a life-changing trip to Rwanda last year. The Brees family was there on a humanitarian mission, and they also pledged support to help sustain the endangered gorilla population.
The preserve came about as a gift from Portia de Rossi, Ellen’s wife. “These gorillas are so incredible and so closely linked to us, sharing 98 percent of our DNA,” she said at the time of the gift. “There are only 880 of these majestic creatures left on this planet. I’m beyond excited to get to work with the Fossey Fund to support their work and help protect these amazing animals.”
