DJ Khaled is promoting his new (11th!) album Father of Asahd, which will be released on Friday, May 17. Flying exclusively on Global 6000 private jets, Khaled landed in New York City on May 11. He posted a video featuring him walking off the plane and down the steps in slow motion. There’s no sound but the 2002 song “Welcome to New York City” by Cam’Ron featuring Jay-Z & Juelz Santana is playing.

When Khaled steps on the tarmac, he dramatically lifts his arms and hands up to the sky triumphantly like Rocky Balboa (see below) after running up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Khaled’s grey sweatshirt and sneakers help the comparison. Although, Rocky Balboa didn’t have his own athletic line with Nike like Khaled’s Jordan x Asahd collection.
Note to NYC fans: DJ Khaled will be at Levi’s Times Square (45th & Braodway) on Wednesday, May 15 at 1 pm.
