The 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York. The seven artists/ground inductees are: Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson, The Cure, The Zombies, Def Leppard, Roxy Music, and Radiohead.
At the ceremony, 25-year-old former One Direction singer Harry Styles introduced 70-year-old Stevie Nicks. Styles wasn’t close to being born when Nicks launched her solo career in 1981. (She did so while remaining a member of Fleetwood Mac.) Nicks’s first solo album, Bella Donna, topped the Billboard album charts and reached multi-platinum status. Ever since her solo success, she’s been telling people to “Stand Back.”

It’s no wonder when Styles introduces Nicks onstage that he bows before her. He knows what it takes to launch a successful solo career. His self-titled debut album was released in 2017 with his debut single “Sign of the Times,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was named Single of the Year by Rolling Stone.
In an exclusive backstage interview, Nicks says, “people would say, ‘do you really need to have a solo career?’,” and she answers the question without hesitation: “I did do the (bleep) right thing, and I did do it all with love.” The 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony premieres on HBO on Saturday, April 27 at 8 pm.
