American Idol continues its All-Star Duets on Monday, April 8. On the first night, the legendary rock and roll singer Pat Benatar and her guitarist husband Neil Giraldo performed with Idol contestants Kate Barnette and Madison Vandenburg. On the second night, 27-year-old Idol contestant Wade Cota from Phoenix, Arizona gets the opportunity to perform “Broken” with Lovelytheband. It’s the indie pop band’s debut single (released in 2016) and most popular song. The song “Broken” includes the lyrics: “I met you late night, at a party/ Some trust fund baby’s Brooklyn loft.”
Although Lovelytheband is from L.A., they’ve won the admiration of New Yorkers including Circa Brewing Co., a brewery and wood-fired pizza restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn which created a limited edition Strawberry/Lime Gose beer called Lovelythebeer Strawberry Sour (see photo below). They served it when Lovelytheband placed at Circa last week! According to Circa Brewery Co., the band “wanted their own beer…so we made it happen.”
Lovelytheband consists of lead singer/guitarist Mitchy Collins, guitarist Jordan Greenwald, and drummer Sam Price. After being the opening act for the European leg of 5 Seconds of Summer’s Meet You There Tour, Lovelytheband is currently headlining its Finding It Hard to Smile Tour, to support their debut album (see link above).
At the end of the American Idol All-Stars Duets evening, the remaining ten contestants find out who has made the last seven spots, to advance to the Top 14. Ten Monday night performers listed below.
