In The Cook Kids episode “The Cool Kids Plus One,” Margaret’s (Vicki Lawrence) gorgeous and vivacious friend Joanie comes to town to visit. The two women have so much fun together, Joanie decides to move to Shady Meadows. But Margaret’s friends at the retirement home — Sid (Leslie Jordan), Hank (David Alan Grier) and Charlie (Martin Mull) — feel neglected when Joanie is around so they come up with a plan to convince Joanie not to move to Shady Meadows.
Margaret’s best friend Joanie is portrayed by actress Joanna Cassidy. She’s known for her roles on Bravo’s Odd Mom Out (Candace Von Weber, see link above), Call Me Fitz (Elaine Fitzpatrick), Body of Proof (Joan Hunt), Boston Legal (Beverly Bridge), Six Feet Under (Margaret Chenowith), and Buffalo Bill (Jo Jo White), among others. Cassidy is also recognized for her roles in the films Blade Runner opposite Harrison Ford (Zhora), The Package opposite Gene Hackman (Eileen), and as the voice of Dolores in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The Cool Kids airs Fridays at 8:30 pm on FOX, right after Last Man Standing and right before Proven Innocent.
