The Golden State Warriors were already on their way to dynasty status when they added none other than NBA MVP Kevin Durant to the roster. That worked out pretty well, you might say, and dynasty is no longer a maybe for Golden State. The Warriors, winners of three out of the last four NBA titles, then somehow managed to add DeMarcus Cousins to the roster this year. This didn’t get quite the attention it deserved because Cousins was hurt and rehabbing most of the season. But DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins isn’t just an NBA All-Star — he’s an all-world top-ten type talent, a genuine superstar and franchise player who also happens to be 6’11” tall. We’re talking about a guy who was the #5 pick in the 2010 NBA draft. Since coming back from injury Cousins has been averaging about 16 points and more than eight rebounds a game for Golden State, while dishing 3.2 assists in just 25 minutes per game.

Now the Warriors are adding Andrew Bogut to the playoff-ready roster. The Australian iconoclast Bogut — a 7-footer with a high IQ and some iconoclastic viewpoints — was with the 2015 NBA Champion Warriors. Lately he’s been playing in the Australian pro league, where he’s the best player. When Warriors centerpiece Steph Curry heard Bogut would likely rejoin the team, he loved it. “It’s exciting, weird, a blast from the past — all that combined,” Curry said. “He knows our system. He knows how we do things around here. He was instrumental in that turnaround to become a championship-caliber team.”
So now the Warriors are going to have more championship pedigree than they had before, with two new 7-footers — when they already had more than any other team. By a lot. Steph Curry didn’t say “Fuhgeddaboudit” to the rest of the NBA, but he’d be forgiven for thinking it.
