The Dateline episode ‘Jagged’ investigates the 2015 murder of single mom Heather Bogle. The 28-year-old worked 8-hour night shifts at a Whirlpool factory outside of Cleveland, Ohio. In February 2019, Bogle’s co-worker, Daniel Myers, pleaded guilty to her murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and evidence tampering. Prosecutor Tim Braun said Bogle had been brutalized, shot in the back twice, and left in the trunk of her car which was left outside an apartment complex. Prior to his arrest, Myers attended Bogle’s funeral and donated $125 to a GoFundMe campaign, “expressing his sorrow over her death.” More than two years after Bogle’s murder, Myers was interviewed by police. DNA found under Bogle’s fingernails pointed to Myers. After his arrest, while in prison, Myers reportedly told a fellow inmate that he lost a tooth while Bogle fought back.

In court, according to The Toledo Blade, Myers, 49, showed no remorse. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Dateline’s Josh Mankiewicz interviews several people involved in the investigation including Heather’s younger sister Jan who says Heather’s main focus was always her daughter. Jan looked up to Heather. She tells Mankiewicz, “She was more like a parent to me than a sister.” Dateline airs Fridays at 10pm on NBC.
