Kyrie Irving was a malcontent and wanted out of Boston, right? Wasn’t that the news? He didn’t want to be famous, just wanted to ball? People always misinterpret Kyrie — just ask him — but two things are certain: Kyrie Irving is famous and he can sure play his outrageously creative brand of winning basketball. Those Celtics who might have been wondering? They are coming around apparently. Even the official Celtics Twitter account couldn’t resist reminding us that “Kyrie Irving is a baaaad man” after Irving dribbled behind his back without switching hands and nailed a jumper against five helpless LA Lakers in the Staples Center. The play caused mesmerized NBA announcer Mark Jackson to say that’s “Uncle Drew, showing off, in Hollywood.” The move culminated in a Lakers timeout and Jackson reaching for the special line he reserves for when someone does something spectacular on the court: “Mama there goes that man.”

[Uncle Drew “showing off in Hollywood”]
You could almost hear Jack Nicholson muttering about how Magic Johnson used to do this kind of thing around here. But wait, aren’t Kyrie’s teammates upset with him? Celtics tough guy scorer Marcus Morris was asked about the Celtics turnaround and he had this to say, indicating Irving: “Ask that man right there. His energy has just taken us to another level. He’s been great for us. Everybody been talking about how he want out and all this other shit, but he’s been great for us, a great leader.”
Marcus Morris on #Celtics‘ sudden resurgence. “Ask that man right there (Kyrie Irving). His energy has just taken us to another level. He’s been great for us. Everybody been talking about how he want out and all this other shit, but he’s been great for us, a great leader.”
