On the third night of auditions for ABC’s second season of American Idol, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan meet Madison VanDenburg from Albany, New York — the state capital. For her audition, Madison sits at the piano and sings the 2018 song “Speechless” by country duo Dan + Shay. The song is a profession of love and is often played at weddings. After the performance, Katy Perry tells Madison that she “got my first goosebumps.” That’s a good thing. Former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez uses the term “goosies” when she is moved by a performance on World of Dance (which airs against American Idol at 8 pm on NBC).
