TLC’s new reality TV show Drag Me Down the Aisle stars four drag queens who also fancy themselves as wedding consultants. The four are Alexis Michelle, BeBe Zahara Benet, Thorgy Thor, and Jujubee from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
On the first episode, the flamboyant foursome travel by buggy to meet Emily, an Amish country bride. When she tries on her wedding dress for her new friends, she breaks down in tears. She says she doesn’t feel beautiful. The drag queens help Emily find her “inner queen” which includes dance lessons with her fiancé and a serious makeover. Or as they say, “It’s a transformation extravaganza!”
One of the clever taglines of Drag Me Down the Aisle is: “We’re here so your wedding won’t be a drag.” Drag Me Down the Aisle, which should draw in fans of RuPaul Drag Race, Return to Amish, and Say Yes to the Dress, airs Saturdays at 9 pm on TLC.
