Minutes after soon-to-be-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi staked a fresh claim on her power during an Oval Office meeting, the California congresswoman staked a separate claim on power in the fashion world. The 68-year-old was the very definition of a social media influencer as she walked away from the tempestuous meeting with the flustered president. Her coat, a Max Mara design at least five years old, blew up on the Internet — because Pelosi looked oh-so chic and commanding in its sleek silhouette.

Pelosi’s coat is the GLAMIS by Max Mara, an Italian design firm that traffics in high-end fashion. Max Mara coats generally cost more than $1,000 — and some climb to 3x or 4x that.
