On the Teen Mom OG episode “Back to Square One,” while Maci Bookout’s 9-year-old son Bentley starts the fourth grade, Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra celebrate the birthday of Carly, their first daughter who they placed for adoption nine years ago. Catelynn says they haven’t seen Carly for two years, and her birthday is “usually a hard day for us so we try to celebrate it in a positive way.”

In this episode, Catelynn gets a call from Dawn — their adoption counselor — who asks if their second daughter, 3-year-old Nova is old enough to understand that its Carly’s birthday. Dawn suggests that they send a video of Nova wishing Carly a happy birthday. Tyler says they’re working on one, which pleases Dawn. Dawn continues to tell the young couple of how proud she is of them and for the “monumental decision you made at the time.” In September, Catelynn and Tyler, who are both 26 years old, announced that they’re pregnant with their third child (another girl!) and are due in March 2019.
