Slawsa is a condiment that’s a coleslaw with a salsa twist. Slawsa founder Julie Busha of Waynesville, North Carolina, pitched her healthy food product which was derived from an old family recipe on Shark Tank in November 2013. She went into the Tank seeking an investment of $150,000 in exchange for 15 percent equity. While most of the Sharks loved the taste of Slawsa, alas, Busha did not get a deal. But her company, The Busha Group, is still moving a lot of product five years later.

In 2017, Busha reported that Slawsa is sold in 8,000 stores across the U.S. including at select Walmart stores and Lowe’s Home Improvement. She says her biggest challenge is brand awareness and marketing. “It’s not like we have tons of money to throw at it or experiment with,” she says. There are four flavors of Slawsa which is available in 16 oz. jars. The four flavors are original, spicy, fire and garlic (see link above). New episodes of Shark Tank (Season 10, 2018) air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC.
