Safe Catch is a line of low-mercury canned wild tuna, wild albacore, wild salmon and ahi tuna. It knows exactly how much mercury is in each tuna can because they have a proprietary machine that tests every fish they catch for mercury levels. The two founders of Safe Catch, Bryan Boches and Sea Wittenbergn, of Sausalito, California pitched their business on Shark Tank in November 2016.

Although Safe Catch didn’t not land a Shark on the show, one year later the company reeled in $5 million in seed funding from Echo Capital, Essential Investments and a handful of angel investors. In April 2018, pop star Nick Jonas shared a video of him making his favorite post-workout snack — tuna salad, and yes, that’s a can of Safe Catch, to his 17 million followers on Instagram (see video below). And in June, Safe Catch announced a partnership with Kroger grocery stores which is putting Safe Catch on their shelves nationwide. New episodes of Shark Tank (Season 10) air Sundays at 10 pm on ABC.
