The Bobby Brown Story is a two-part TV series on BET featuring the story of R&B king Bobby Brown, through his eyes. It’s not an easy story to tell. Viewers watch Bobby rising to fame, falling in love with Whitney Houston, kicking drugs in jail, and tested by a series of family tragedies. After Bobby was kicked out of New Edition, his brother Tommy stepped up and managed his career, which again wasn’t easy. Although Bobby had the #1 album in the country, he wasn’t paying his bills and was served an eviction notice. In The Bobby Brown Story, Bobbie is portrayed by Woody McClain, who played Bobby in BET’s movie “New Edition: The Movie.” Whitney is portrayed by Gabrielle Dennis (Netflix’s Luke Cage (Tilda Johnson), S.W.A.T. (Shemar Moore/Hondo’s sister Briana Harrelson). Bobby Brown’s brother Tommy is portrayed by Mekhi Phifer.
